Our first garden

Our first garden

For Easter this year, I got Jayden a gardening kit with a little claw and two shovels.  It also came with pumpkin and watermelon seeds, dirt pellets and start planters.  We planted a couple seeds in the planters so Jayden could see how it worked. He thought it was awesome.  There were still a bunch of seeds leftover and I’m not usually one to let anything go to waste so we dug some holes in the back yard and planted the seeds. Jayden helped me find little sticks to mark where we planted and then bigger sticks to put around the garden patch so they wouldn’t get mowed over. The watermelons never came up and a couple of the pumpkin plants were attacked by a weed eater but there are 5 plants that are still going strong.  Yesterday I noticed one of them had a bloom.

I was so excited.  I can’t wait until Jayden gets back from his dad’s so I can show him how well our garden is doing.  I love being able to share things like this with my little one.  Our first garden is a success!

Water balloon luminaries

Water balloon luminaries

I found this awesome pin on Pinterest on how to make water balloon luminaries.  They looked awesome and super easy, so I decided to give it a try. They just look so beautiful don’t they?

So we got all of the supplies together.  You would think that since the name is “water balloon luminaries” that it would involve using water balloons.  Wrong.  You actually have to use PARTY balloons and fill them with water.  The name should be party balloon luminaries.  You know what happens to a water balloon when its introduced to hot wax?  Its pops.  Know what cold water and hot wax together make?  A quick way to tie dye your kitchen.  Oops.  Only did THAT once.  So after everything, I finally got one to come out semi decent.

I’m not sure why but I couldn’t get it to look anything like the picture on the website.  Better than nothing I guess.  It works.
And just so I don’t get in trouble or anything, here’s the link to “Water balloon luminaries” on the Candle tech  website in case you want to try it yourself.  Let me know how it turns out.

Proud Mommy

Proud Mommy

My little man finished his second year of Head Start on Friday.  While he still has another year to go, he participated in graduation where he received his two year completion certificate.
Last year, one of my goals for his was to learn to smile big for the camera.
To my surprise, he smiled big for all the cameras on his big day. His picture this year is much better.

He continues to make his mommy proud.  I can’t wait to see his progress next year.  I love you Jayden Alex!!
